International Women’s Day

Patricia Stillman

Patricia was a nursing sister at a local hospital in Bundaberg when she was diagnosed with a severe degenerative eye condition which led to her having to give up her work in her chosen profession. Over the years Pat has been instrumental in establishing Bundaberg Talking Newspaper, a monthly Newsletter called Chatter, a Bundaberg Vision Impaired Friendship Group. During this time Pat took extensive training with Guide Dogs completed a degree at University whilst rearing her three children as a sole parent. Pat has been a long time member of Blind Citizens Australia and is a member of BCA (Womens talk), Community Access, Advocacy and has served on various committees with Guide Dogs, Vision Australia and local disability groups. She has organised seminars and has undertaken public speaking engagements to promote the cause of people with special needs.

I find that Pat is an inspirational person with unceasing drive to promote the rights of people as valued members of society.
