Alice is a 13 year old girl from Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. During the 10 months that I offered voluntary work as a Baha’i Youth Year of Service at a school there, I had the privilege of meeting this inspiring young lady. In that time, she became a spiritual sister to me. Although her story is not extravagant, and perhaps may not affect many other people who do not get to meet her or know her, it was her love that inspired me. At such a young age, this young woman showed forth great capacity in her sense of justice and her ability to shower love upon all. Her perception and intuition inspired me to recognise that no matter what age, level of education, cultural background, or gender, one can never judge another persons capacity, or their ability to give. It was the capacity that I saw in her which inspired me, the knowledge that, should she channel her energies towards the greater good, she could do wonderful, marvelous things.
